I began as a self-taught frontend developer at a creative agency in Hamburg in 1999. After moving to the US for school, I worked at Portland State University, Reed College, and Portland Community College managing projects and people, while keeping my tech skills sharp. I later brought this experience to Epicodus, where I managed a 6-person teaching team, wrote curriculum, and taught full-time, impacting hundreds of students, and grading thousands of pieces of individual work. My work there strengthened my technical, leadership, and communication skills. As the public face of the school, I spoke nationally and internationally on tech education, diversity, and career development.

At Netlify, I joined as the first Community Manager, managing a support forum and team, collaborating with Engineering and Product teams, and getting promoted twice. This hybrid role leveraged my technical expertise and strong communication skills.

After a health-focused break, I’m eager to apply my background to new challenges at the intersection of tech, people, and projects.

How I Work Best

I thrive in hybrid roles that combine technical expertise with strong communication skills. While not currently an engineer, I am very comfortable in technical environments and excel at breaking down complex concepts for non-technical audiences. I’m also skilled at translating client or customer needs into technical solutions.

• Zendesk, Intercom. I have worked tech support cases, as well as assisted and managed Support Engineers at Netlify.

• Moodle, Blackboard, Coursera and more. I have extensive experience designing and developing curriculum, working with various learning platforms at PSU, PCC, Reed and Epicodus.

• HubSpot, MailChimp, WordPress, Drupal, LinkedIn. I worked with all of these platforms - some at Netlify, some at other roles.

Development & Programming

• Git, NPM, VSCode, JS Pipelines, React, Netlify, Fly.io, Java/Android/JS, SQL/NoSQL, Integration & Unit Testing, HTML, CSS, Markdown. I have written code in various languages at Epicodus and Netlify, and have many years of experience with HTML and CSS.
